HIMALAYA STONECRAFT
and THINLEY DHARGAY
Thinley Dhargay was born and raised in Yetha, Tibet. During his childhood he was a shepherd attending his flocks in the high Himalaya mountains. In his teens, Thinley apprenticed with local Tibetan master stonemasons.
In 1998, Thinley came to the USA and continued working with other Tibetan craftsmen, honing his artistry building many stone walls, steps and patios. Thinley's approach to stonework combines both the ancient traditional aspects of Tibetan stonemasonry with more modern western European techniques of tile-laying and design.
Thinley has more than seventeen years' experience in the design and crafting of traditional Tibetan stone walls, steps, and patios, as well as chimney repair and construction. He also enjoys landscaping and, especially, the harmonized integration of stone work within a natural landscape environment.
